St Mary’s Parish Church, Cannon St, Dover CT16 1BY, UK
A peal of Grandshire Triples, lasting just over three hours, will be rung as it was one hundred years ago on 14th May 1919 in honour of the return of Edith Cavell’s mortal remains to the UK. The bells were deeply muffled in token of respect to Edith Cavell whose body arrived in Dover during the ringing and rested in the town hall till the following morning.
St Mary’s Parish Church will also show a series of ten photographs that portray the journey of Edith Cavell’s mortal remains from Brussels to Norwich via Oostende, Dover and London on 13th, 14th and 15th May 1919.
